Working from home

Icon representing working from homeHomeworking is an arrangement which is agreed between you and your manager, which allows you to spend a proportion of your week working from home, where your role lends itself to this.

For some, homeworking can help you to concentrate with fewer distractions than in a busy office environment, can improve work life balance and allows you to adapt your working environment to suit your preferences.

Our Homeworking Policy, as well as the resources below, are intended to support you and your manager to navigate home working arrangements.

We recognise that homeworking does not suit everyone (or every role), and some may prefer to work from their office base instead. If you want to discuss this in more detail, have a conversation with your line manager who would be happy to support your return to the office.

Home working self-assessment

We have the same health and safety responsibilities for homeworkers as we do for anyone working at a Trust site. To make sure that we meet our obligations, it is important that you complete a home working risk assessment to identify any risks working from home might pose and how we can minimise their impact.

Once you have completed this assessment you should arrange some time to speak to your manager about the content. It is important to review this assessment every year or if your home working environment changes.

Equipment for home working

If after completing your home working self-assessment you feel you would benefit from some additional equipment to reduce risk within your homeworking setup, you should have a conversation with your manager about what you might need and why.

In the first instance, we will try to source the equipment from a Trust site wherever possible, but your manager can also purchase small items using their service budget.

Read our guidance to find details of what items can be purchased and the relevant supplier.

If you have a disability and require reasonable adjustments to support you to work from home, read our Reasonable Adjustments policy.
