Welcome to Berkshire Healthcare

Welcome to Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Congratulations on joining our ‘CQC outstanding rated’ Trust. Here at Berkshire Healthcare, we’re committed to providing the very best care possible to improve the lives of our patients. And we’re not just passionate about care - we’re also passionate about our staff.

As a new starter, we know how daunting the first days and weeks can be, and we recognise that you'll have a lot of information to learn and many questions to ask. We've put together this page to allow you to quickly find  the information you need.

Human Resources support in your first weeks

Human Resources plays a vital role in both organisational performance and people’s careers.

These policies may be useful in your first weeks:

Your first six months

We know how important the first few months at a new organisation can be; it can shape our whole experience at Berkshire Healthcare. With this in mind, we will support you with regular and frequent conversations about how you are getting on, and set clear objectives to aid you in your first few months with us.

Your manager will use a 'new starter pack' to provide a structured framework to some of these conversations. Here's a copy of the New Starter Pack

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and our staff networks

We want Berkshire Healthcare to be a great place to work for everyone.

We have four staff networks that you can join. These networks are fully inclusive and welcome anyone with a passion for promoting inclusion for all. They are:

  • Race Equality Network - aims to create equal career prospects and advancement opportunities for BAME staff by enriching their working lives through caring for the individual, being committed to providing quality patient care, and working together to develop innovative solutions
  • Pride Network - the Pride Network provides focused advice and assistance to us to ensure sexual orientation equality in employment and service delivery
  • Purple Network - the Purple Network's goal is to increase our disability confidence, address barriers and promote a culture of openness. It also provides support so colleagues can bring their ‘whole selves’ to work
  • Courage Network – the Courage Network is aimed at providing those that are part of the wider Armed Forces Community, veterans, reservists, staff whose family members have served or are serving, a chance to meet others from a similar background, share stories, attend social events, provide mutual support and advice
