The Library and Knowledge Service is for all our staff. They are here to help you grow personally and professionally, improve your skills, and do research. This way, you can make well-informed decisions and give excellent patient care.

Opening times 

The Library at Prospect Park Hospital is staffed 8.30am until 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. It is not staffed bank holidays.  Online resources are always available. 

Staff based at Prospect Park Hospital can use their ID card to access the library space at any time. All other staff can access the library space by asking at Reception. 

You do not need to visit the library to use the service. Books can be posted to you.

The Library is free to use by our staff.  Library membership allows you to: 

  • Borrow books.  
  • Request articles.

OpenAthens

OpenAthens is a username and password you can use to access online resources. Fill in the OpenAthens registration form with your Berkshire Healthcare email address. You will get an email to activate your account and to create a password. Accounts work for two years. They will then need renewing.

Evidence searches

An evidence search is a search to look for and find the best available research and information to answer questions about health, healthcare, public health, and social care. The Knowledge Specialists (librarians) can do an evidence search for you. It must be for work or clinical purposes.  

To request an evidence search fill in the evidence search request form. Please also fill in the membership form if you are not a member.  

Training

The Library and Knowledge Service run a range of training sessions to help improve your skills in finding healthcare information. All the training is delivered via Microsoft Teams. Face-to-face training is available on request.

Keeping up to date

The Library and Knowledge Service can help you stay up to date. KnowledgeShare sends you a personalised email every two weeks. It contains details of new articles and reports that match your interests. 

You can also include table of contents from specific journals when new issues are published. You will receive monthly updates of new articles published from your selected journals.
