Hybrid working
Hybrid working is an arrangement which is agreed between a person and their manager, which allows for them to work across more than one location, including their home address, whilst retaining a Trust site as their work base.
Hybrid working may be appropriate for roles which have previously been primarily office-based, but where the nature of the work means that people can fulfil their role effectively from home, only visiting sites/offices to mainly attend meetings.
There are some roles, predominantly in clinical areas, that will not be appropriate for hybrid working as the postholder needs to be on site for all of their working hours. Alternative flexible working options may be available to you which can be requested via the Flexible Working Policy.
Our Hybrid Working policy, and Hybrid Working guidance, as well as the resources below, are intended to support you and your manager to navigate hybrid working arrangements.
To make a request to hybrid work on a permanent or temporary basis, you can complete this Flexible working request form and send it to your Line Manager and flexible.working@berkshire.nhs.uk
Home working self-assessment
We have the same health and safety responsibilities for homeworkers as we do for anyone working at a Trust site. To make sure that we meet our obligations, it is important that you complete a home working risk assessment to identify any risks working from home might pose and how we can minimise their impact.
Once you have completed this assessment you should arrange some time to speak to your manager about the content. It is important to review this assessment every year or if your home working environment changes.
If there are any risks that you and your manager cannot mitigate in your home environment, you may be asked to return to working in an office environment where we may be better able to meet your needs.

Equipment for home working
If after completing your home working self-assessment you feel you would benefit from some additional equipment to reduce risk within your homeworking setup, you should have a conversation with your manager about what you might need and why.
In the first instance, we will try to source the equipment from a Trust site wherever possible, but your manager can also purchase small items using their service budget.
Read our guidance to find details of what items can be purchased and the relevant supplier.
If you have a disability and require reasonable adjustments to support you to work from home, read our Reasonable Adjustments policy.
